As part one of a new series featuring the spectacular 4-manual, 73-stop Rieger organ of Marienstatt Abbey in Germany, I present a live performance of Bach's legendary Toccata & Fugue in D Minor BWV 565.

The recording was made with a single pair of omnidirectional microphones to pick up the organ and the church's wonderful acoustic. The piece was recorded in one take whilst the church was open to the public, hence the occasional background noises.

The organ is about to be enlarged considerably (don't forget, it already has 73 stops!) and I have been asked by its custodian, Frater Gregor OCist, to make a series of videos documenting the upcoming work.

The first videos will present the organ "as is" and over the coming months, we will be keeping you up to date with all the work involved, including interviews with those involved.
