Despite all the marvelous inventions mankind has created, mosquitoes and diseases that are carried by them still pose a significant risk in urban spaces.

Majority of the people use vaporizers that do repel mosquitoes from immediate surroundings to an extent but it does not really prevent their entry and the adverse health effects that these mosquito coils, vaporizers and sprays cause in the long term are often overlooked. Ideally such mosquito repellents should be used in places with adequate ventilation but in modern flats, proper ventilation is a luxury that most people simply cannot afford. Many insect repellents may cause symptoms such as breathing problems, eye and skin irritation, cough, sneezing, headache, asthma, and itching.

Instead of using any mosquito repellent, it is best to install mesh on every door, windows or any openings that will allow proper ventilation and at the same time prevent mosquitoes from entering. Exhaust fan louvers are also helpful to prevent mosquito entry from exhaust fan openings.

Using Gomutra in vaporizers is futile and burning cow dung produces a lot of smoke that does repel mosquitoes but it is simply impractical in present modern housing systems. Using chemical based mosquito repellents in porch, balconies and verandah is ideal to prevent mosquito entry and leftover mosquitoes can be dealt with mosquito racquets.
