EDIT 4/25: I reviewed my UNC application a few days ago. Here are some important takeaways — do extracurriculars (3 is a good amount!), take more than 2 APs your senior year lol. The admissions officers commented that my 2 weren't enough. Aim for 3+ APs your senior year! Additionally, my high school did not rank, but for the high schools that do, UNC will see that and take your ranking into consideration. Just because my high school doesn’t rank doesn’t mean UNC does not understand the competitiveness of my high school. On my application they wrote that I did well in “one of the top high schools on LI.” So even if your school does not rank, you should still get relatively good grades as admissions officers are VERY knowledgeable about high schools
