My wonderful visit to the Monal restaurant in Islamabad Pakistan was an eye-opening experience proving once again that despite what you hear in the media Pakistan is completely safe. I actually felt safer in Islamabad than back home in London UK.

Is Pakistan safe? This is usually the most concerning question foreigners ask before traveling to Pakistan. Is Pakistan safe for tourists? Well, if you prefer to follow what you hear and see on Western media, then your chances of making a trip to Pakistan are bleak. But if you want a true answer from a first-hand traveler who has been to Pakistan already then YES! Pakistan is SAFE.

On a different note: as this video is being published, it is unfortunate that the Monal Islamabad closed after a Pakistani Supreme Court ruling to shut down all commercial businesses on the Margallah hills to preserve the national park.
The Monal wasn’t just a restaurant --- it was a symbol of Islamabad, offering breathtaking views from the mountains of Islamabad. A place where locals and foreign tourists alike enjoyed a unique environment that made Islamabad feel like any other modern Western city. Looking back, I may have been one of the last foreigners in Pakistan to visit The Monal before its closure.
Regardless, it was an unforgettable and beautiful experience where as a foreigner in Pakistan I felt totally safe and at peace enjoying Pakistani food with local Pakistani friends on top of the hills of the capital city of Pakistan.
