ব্যাংক কোম্পানি আইন ভেঙে এস আলম গ্রুপের চেয়ারম্যান সাইফুল আলম ও তার পরিবারের সদস্যরা নজিরবিহীনভাবে সাতটি ব্যাংক ও দুটি আর্থিক প্রতিষ্ঠানের বড় অঙ্কের শেয়ার দখলে নেয়। আর এই অসাধ্য কাজটি সম্ভব হয়েছে কেন্দ্রীয় ব্যাংকের কারণে। মূলত বিশেষ অনুমতি দিয়ে এই পরিবারকে সহায়তা করেছে ব্যাংকিং নিয়ন্ত্রক সংস্থা। বৃহস্পতিবার ইসলামি ব্যাংক, ফার্স্ট সিকিউরিটি ইসলামি ব্যাংক, সোস্যাল ইসলামি ব্যাংক ও গ্লোবাল ইসলামি ব্যাংকের কয়েকটি শাখায় গিয়ে দেখা গেছে এসব ব্যাংকগুলোতে আসা গ্রাহকরা কোন টাকাই তুলতে পারছেন না। কেউ, কেউ পারলেও সেটা আংশিক।
