Famous Ganpati temple in Kottayam district
Mallyoor Sri Mahaganapati Kshetra is a famous temple located in Kurupantara land in Manjoor panchayat of Kottayam district in Kerala. The deity of the temple is Bijaganapati, a rare form of Lord Ganesha. The once dilapidated temple was later restored to its present form during the reign of Bhagavatahamsam Malliyur Sankaran Namboothiri. The deity in the temple came to be known as Lord Ganesha holding Lord Sri Krishna on his lap due to his presence, who used to read Bhagavatam in the presence of Lord Ganesha. Shiva, Vishnu, Shasta, Antimahakala, Durga, Bhadrakali, Brahmarakshas and Yakshi reside as sub-deities of Lord Ganapati who resides facing east. Vinayaka Chaturthi is the main festival of the temple. In connection with this, since 2012, a six-day flag-raising festival is also being held. Also, Ashtamirohini, Vishu, Guruvayur Ekadashi, Navratri, Bhagavathahamsajayanti etc. are also important. കോട്ടയം ജില്ലയിലെ പ്രശസ്തമായ ഗണപതി ക്ഷേത്രം കേരളത്തിൽ കോട്ടയം ജില്ലയിലെ മാഞ്ഞൂർ പഞ്ചായത്തിൽ കുറുപ്പന്തറ ദേശത്ത് സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന പ്രസിദ്ധമായ ക്ഷേത്രമാണ് മള്ളിയൂർ ശ്രീമഹാഗണപതിക്ഷേത്രം. ഗണപതിഭഗവാന്റെ അപൂർവ്വസങ്കല്പമായ ബീജഗണപതിയാണ് ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രതിഷ്ഠ. ഒരുകാലത്ത് ജീർണ്ണാവസ്ഥയിലായിരുന്ന ക്ഷേത്രം പിന്നീട് ഭാഗവതഹംസം മള്ളിയൂർ ശങ്കരൻ നമ്പൂതിരിയുടെ കാലത്താണ് ഇന്നത്തെ രൂപത്തിലാക്കിയത്. ഗണപതിസന്നിധിയിൽ വച്ച് ഭാഗവതം വായിച്ചുവന്നിരുന്ന അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ സാന്നിദ്ധ്യം കാരണം ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണഭഗവാനെ മടിയിലിരുത്തിയ ഗണപതിയായി ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രതിഷ്ഠ അറിയപ്പെടാൻ തുടങ്ങി. കിഴക്കോട്ട് ദർശനമായി കുടികൊള്ളുന്ന ഗണപതിഭഗവാന് ഉപദേവതകളായി ശിവൻ, വിഷ്ണു, ശാസ്താവ്, അന്തിമഹാകാളൻ, ദുർഗ്ഗ, ഭദ്രകാളി, ബ്രഹ്മരക്ഷസ്സ്, യക്ഷി എന്നിവർ കുടികൊള്ളുന്നു. വിനായക ചതുർത്ഥിയാണ് ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രധാന ആഘോഷം. ഇതിനോടനുബന്ധിച്ച് 2012 മുതൽ ആറുദിവസത്തെ കൊടിയേറ്റുത്സവവും നടത്തിവരുന്നുണ്ട്. കൂടാതെ, അഷ്ടമിരോഹിണി, വിഷു, ഗുരുവായൂർ ഏകാദശി, നവരാത്രി, ഭാഗവതഹംസജയന്തി തുടങ്ങിയവയും പ്രധാനമാണ്. മള്ളിയൂർ മനയുടെ നേതൃത്വത്തിലുള്ള ഒരു പ്രത്യേക ട്രസ്റ്റാണ് ക്ഷേത്രഭരണം നടത്തുന്നത്
