Symptoms: engine runs rough, bogs, check engine light on, cranks but won't start.

Buy a used ECU on eBay. Part number is not important as long as the used part was removed from a Saab 9-3 with 2.0 turbo 4 cylinder engine. Don't bother with rebuild services - they do not work.

You'll need a newer laptop - less than 3 years old - that can process the data faster than older laptops

Instructions:

Download trionic can flasher – use Firefox browser

Install obdwiz and driver on your laptop, write down comm port from setting

Erase all existing fault codes from the failed ECU

Turn ignition to ON, connect OBDLink cable to car OBD port
1: start trioniccanflasher on your laptop, select T8 and your interface
2: read ecu content from the original ecu (name file as T8 main and save it to a folder on your laptop)
3: select t8 MCP and read ecu again (name file as T8 MCP and save it to the same folder on your laptop)
TURN Ignition OFF and remove key
4: disconnect car battery and remove old ecu then install the new ecu, reconnect car battery (sorry I forgot to mention this in the video)
TURN ignition to ON
5: check advance settings in can flasher and make sure legion bootloader and unlock sys partitions are checked
6: select t8 MCP and flash that
7: select t8 and flash that
