Brutal heat conditions didn't stop these 17 #IFD Firefighters from 40 hours of mud, sweat and tears as they spent the week getting certified to the Trench Rescue Operations and Technician Level. This certification will allow these firefighters the opportunity to work as part of the IFD Collapse Rescue Team. The team responds on trench and collapse rescue, structure collapse, confined space and other incidents such as silo entrapment and water tower rescue. They often work in partnership with other specialized IFD Tac Teams such as High and Low Angle Rope Rescue and Haz Mat - depending on the situation.

Led by instructors, Captain Bill Zimmerman, Captain Casey Sweeney and Division Chief Kevin Jones, the students didn't let a little heat get in their way and will wrap the week of training up tomorrow. #StrongWork #TrainingMatters

Big thanks to our partners Indianapolis Department of Public Works and Jim Florea for help with the big equipment, Captain Jake Kocher for handling the dig and to Grady Brothers and Jay Bell for the use of their land.
