In Chidambaram , during cholas regime , then the king removed the Govinda rajaswamy statue from the temple and dropped in the indian ocean . Later Ramanuja charyulu , taken it out and thought of putting it in temple at tirupati. He brought it all through chidambharam and while journey sanku broken down and as broken statue cannot be place in temple it is kept near a pond called manchineella gunta ( freshwater pond) and famously called Narasimha theerdham . The idol in Govinda Raja Swamy temple in Tirupati is not original one and it is made up of plaster of Paris. Hence no abhiseka performed to that statue.
