Let’s get into it! I used to think my family was the model of perfection. Growing up, I idolized my parents. They had that whole "we’re doing it all for you" attitude, and I believed it. But somewhere along the line, cracks started to show. I ignored it for a long time, thinking maybe I was just being dramatic. You know, the usual teenage rebellion. The thing is, my mom? She’s manipulative as hell. I didn’t see it at first, but now I realize that half the time she was making me feel guilty for stuff I had no control over. "Do you know how much I’ve sacrificed for you?" That line was on repeat, over and over. It would get to the point where I'd start doubting myself. Was I being selfish for wanting something different? I wasn’t even asking for much. And my dad? He just played along. Never stood up for me. He was always the quiet one, but I realize now, he just didn’t want to get involved. I guess it was easier for him to stay out of the crossfire.
