Spiralling tensions between Iran and Israel have drawn focus to the air force and the striking capabilities of the two mighty powers in the Middle East. Iran’s Air Force flies 63 of the top supersonic jets which can reportedly fly at speeds up to 1,473 mph. Iran currently has 16 different models of jets and combat aircraft in active service and its Air Force and Army both rely on these for strategic advantage and support. Meanwhile Iran has built its arsenal over the years preparing for a possible confrontation with Israel, Tel Aviv has not been oblivious to Tehran’s might. Iran's nuclear facilities and ballistic missile bases are deeply embedded underground, in contrast to less-protected targets like oil terminals. As a result, Israel's defence establishment has invested billions in preparing for a potential strike on Iran, developing specialised munitions.
