Enjoy this 2 day Matsumoto Itinerary with us as we explore Matsumoto and Narai!

We spent our first day in Matsumoto City, exploring Matsumoto Castle, before walking to Nawate Dori/Street (also known as Frog Street). Whilst we didn't spot any real frogs, there was plenty of frog spirit! We then walked to Nakamachi Dori (Street) to see the Kura shop fronts. It wouldn't be a day in Japan without a cheeky stop at the local Book Off. Our accomodation in Matsumoto is really special as we're staying in a Ryōkin for the first time. It's called Couch Potato and it's an awesome Ryōkin hostel in a perfect location. We finished our first day with trying some Soba Noodles, which are famous to the Nagano prefecture, at a cute restaurant called Soba-Dokoro Kippo.

On Day 2 we got the train to Narai, a beautiful little town in the alps, only about 50 minutes from Matsumoto. Narai is one of the stops on the Nakasendo trail, very close to the Torri Pass segment, so it is a popular stop for hikers.

Our time finished up at Matsumoto Castle one last time to watch the sunset.
