NSW GambleAware week (October 16-22, 2023) is an opportunity to increase the community’s understanding of risky gambling behaviour, encourage gamblers to recognise when their gambling may place them at risk of harm, and provide information on practical ways to keep their gambling under control.

The Brain and Mind Centre and GambleAware Central Sydney are pleased to showcase a professional development event to learn about how gambling harms develop and the innovative, multidisciplinary research underway to prevent and minimise gambling harms and network with stakeholders actively working in the field.

Dr. Fadi Anjoul: Senior supervising clinical psychologist with over 20 years’ experience treating gambling problems. Dr Anjoul will provide an overview of the clinical model employed by GambleAware clinicians to work with clients to untangle and deconstruct their attitudes and beliefs about gambling which are maintaining harmful behaviours.

Prof. Sally Gainsbury: Professor of Psychology, Director of the Gambling Treatment and Research Clinic and Founder of the Technology Addiction Team. Dr Gainsbury will showcase research underway including consumer’s views and preferences around cashless gambling and how gambling products and interventions can be designed and implemented in a manner to enhance engagement.
