It is important for people to realize that there are grizzly bears everywhere in Yellowstone National Park and the surrounding area called the Yellowstone Ecosystem. Just because you don't see them while you are in the backcountry does not mean they are not there. Learning to know where they are likely to be and knowing what signs to look for is a very helpful thing to keep you safe while hiking in the backcountry. It changes as the temperature changes and the food sources change throughout the summer. To find grizzly bears, you have to track their food source. This is a July 9th hike in an area reachable as a day hike.
