The Slugs have had a historic season. After a crushing defeat to UCLA to end the 2022 season the Slugs returned almost their entire veteran core and added top young prospects heading into the 2023 season. The tumultuous ride began with a surprise 3rd place showing at Santa Barbra Invite. A slump ensued with an up and down Presidents Day Invite eliciting #FraudWatch allegations from the rest of nation. The subsequent resurgence of the Slugs through their victory at Stanford Invite proved this team was still a threat. At Southwest Regionals where only 3 bids remained for 4 nationals quality teams, everything culminated in the game to go against regional rivals UCLA.
