If you make it to Southern Illinois it is DEFINITELY worth the trip to visit Garden of the Gods and the RimRock trail in Shawnee National Forest! Stunning views!!!!! If you are checking out Garden of the Gods…. Pharaoh campground is within walking distance and not a bad price at $10 per night.

We also checked out Tower Rock Campground which is free but only has 4 sites. BEWARE….. two snakes fell out of the trees in front of us!!! This is a nice quiet campground and if you visit in June you just might see HUNDREDS!!! Off fireflies like we did!
