Famous for having a strong identity of its own (it is known in Seville as "the independent republic of Triana"), the Triana neighborhood is famous for its colorful tiles, sailors, bullfighters and flamenco artists.
Triana is not abundant in monuments, compared to the center of Seville. What makes it endearing is its people, the atmosphere of its bars and markets and being the birthplace of great artists and bullfighters, and establishments where locals have fun and listen enthralled to authentic flamenco.
Triana used to be home to Seville's world-famous ceramics and tile workshops; Almost any tile you see in the churches, hotels, establishments and houses of Seville, as well as in the Plaza de España, will have been made here in Triana.
Triana's past has become a lively present, with a great offering of tapas and flamenco and a lively nightlife along Calle Betis, which also has magnificent restaurant terraces facing the Guadalquivir River looking towards the Torre del Gold on the other side of the water.
Triana is probably the most special neighborhood in Seville, famous for its history and idiosyncrasy. Find out little by little, Triana deserves it!
