As I prepare to get my signal system re-installed and working the need to add detectable wheelsets to my rolling stock became apparent. A good friend of mine, Dale Desser, showed me how he doe sit and suggested we make a video. Great idea Dale!

This Workshop Tip shows Dale's method for installing the tiny (!!) SMD resistor onto a wheelset to allow for a block detector to sense the car. For me, this is needed for the C/MRI system- the blocks are "detected" to tell the C/MRI system and then the computer program can react to this input.

Dale uses type 1206 surface mount resistors at 22K ohms. For my system I will use a similar resistor type but in the 10-15K ohm range. It just depends on the sensitivity of your block detector.

Many thanks to Dale for coming over and making this video! Now I need to go buy a bunch of these tiny resistors and start making detectable wheelsets!
