Journalist and political prisoner Mumia Abu-Jama spoke at a conference on Fascism, Democracy and a Workers Party held in Los Angeles on September 7, 2024. It was hosted by Roofer's Local 36.
Mumia a journalist and working class political prisoner was a member of CWA NABET and has been imprisoned in Pennsylvania for life. He talked about the rise of fascism and the role of the Democratic Party and how working people and the trade unions can organize against it.
He was questioned by AFT PSC CUNY professor Johanna Fernandez who also presented at the conference. This is the first labor conference in the United States to focus on the fight against fascism and Mumia called for similar conferences throughout the United States.
