Wildberries is Russia's answer to Amazon. It was founded in 2004 by Tatyana Bakalchuk, who is now Russia's richest woman. She wanted to expand her empire into the digital payments space, so she agreed to merge Wildberries with the Russ Group. But her husband, Vladislav Bakalchuk, opposed the merger. He sought the aid of the Chechen warlord, Ramzan Kadyrov, to stop Tatyana from going through with the merger. Tatyana eventually divorced Vladislav. But the estranged husband made his way to the Wildberries headquarters in Moscow on Wednesday, and a shootout broke out, leaving 2 people dead and several injured. Vladislav has been arrested, and an investigation has begun.
