Jake convinces Megan to spend the morning in bed. He tells her he’s considering going back to being a private detective. Dan is awoken by Laura Jean who needs the keys to open up the clinic. While he goes to look for them, Brenda comes home and is perturbed to find Laura in their bedroom. Tina has a nightmare that Johnny Dee visits her at Llanfair. When she wakes up beside Cord she tries to slip out to talk to Johnny, but Cord thinks she’s trying to get back to work and see a client. Now awake and upright, Viki meets with Troy Nichols (Terry Alexander) and appoints him as the new police commissioner. He is surprised by the honor but he happily accepts. Clint thinks Viki should rest up rather than working while she’s supposed to be recovering. Kim brings Kevin and Jessica to visit their mother. Herb brings Viki flowers and wishes her a speedy recovery. Viki wants to talk about the case against Johnny Dee, but Clint wishes she’s rest up instead of thinking about work. Herb agrees to wait until the kids have left and then give her an update. Tina visits Johnny at the police station. Johnny tells her he and his attorney plan to use Tina as the lynchpin of his defense. He’ll say he could never plan to kill the sister of the woman he loves and plans to spend the rest of his life with. He says if she doesn’t stay with him, he’ll tell Cord what happened between them on Badderly. Herb tells Viki they got a great new piece of evidence this morning. They received a little black book in the mail detailing Harding’s connections to Johnny Dee and the Hesser organization. Apparently Harding was concerned Johnny would double cross him and gave the book to his attorney as an insurance policy in case anything happened to him. Herb confesses he called Harding into his office after she reported seeing him with Johnny, but that he let Harding off without much reprimand and didn’t investigate further.

Marco goes to the hospital hoping to run into Megan. He finds her and says he just wanted to catch her so he could say goodbye. He tells her he’s accepted a job as a headhunter out in California. He says Jake seems like a great guy (though he wishes he could hate him). Megan tells Marco he is one in a million and kisses him goodbye. At the clinic, Laura reads, with seeming interest, the article about Johnny’s arrest. Her reading time is interrupted when two police officers arrive and ask to speak to her. They say they discovered a suicide note for a young woman who said she planned to drown herself, so they’rel looking into whether anyone in the area saw or heard anything. Laura says she’s busy with patients and declines to give the officers a name, but promises to call the station if she hears anything. Dan arrives as she is sending the officers away and asks her what is going on. Tina gets home and Cord says he’s been thinking about the future. Cord asks Tina to marry him (for the third time), Tina panics, tells Cord she can’t marry him, and runs out of the bedroom. Megan finally gets to see her mother and tells her she owes her life to a homing pigeon named Tweety.
