South London-born actor Aaron Pierre's next role is Caesar in Barry Jenkins' new Amazon Prime series 'The Underground Railroad'.

The show adapted from Colson Whitehead's critically acclaimed novel of the same name follows Cora (Thuso Mbedu) and Caesar who escape slavery on a plantation in Georgia during the early 19th century, and make a bid for freedom by following the Underground Railroad.

We spoke to Aaron about the importance of his role.
