From February 11th, 2018 until February 18th, 2018 I will be doing the $24 challenge. The Whole point of this challenge is to show the struggle of living on very fixed and limited income.

One of the biggest things youth today are struggling with is a lack of affordable and nutritional food options and youth who are receiving social assistance receive approximately $337 for all of their basic needs (including food and hygiene products) per month.

Additionally, they are allotted $384 as a shelter allowance, which is intended to pay their rent. The average rent in Ottawa for a bachelor apartment is $800. Even with additional subsidies, the shelter allowance is not enough to cover rent and some of the money is pulled for the basic needs allowance.

So while I an doing this I am also training for an Ironman and raising awareness of poverty in Canada.

I can tell you that next week is going to suck.

Special Thanks to Shawn Foss for manning the Camera today for this.
