Hilma af Klint (1862 – 1944) was a pioneer of abstractionism. She created a significant number of abstract paintings during early 1900, before Wassily Kandinsky, Piet Mondrian and Kazimir Malevich, yet remained unknown until 1986. Her work remained largely unseen until the show at the Guggenheim museum in 2019. Her mysterious connection to and guidance from spiritual realms was depicted in her art work.
