The Gaṇḍavyūha ("Entry into the realm of reality,") is the final book (book 39) of the Avataṃsaka Sūtra. The central character of this book is a seeker of truth named Sudhana. Sent on a journey by Mañjuśrī, Sudhana calls on a number of spiritual guides, each of whom sends him on to another for further enlightenment. Eventually Sudhana comes to the abode of Maitreya, the imminent Buddha, and finally integrates with the total being of Samantabhadra the activity of enlightenment.

At the Borobudur temple, Sudhana's story (his quest for enlightenment) begins on the main wall of the second gallery (128 bas-reliefs), continues on the main wall (88 bas-reliefs) and balustrade (88 bas-reliefs) of the third gallery, and fills the balustrade (84 bas-reliefs), and the main wall (72 bas-reliefs) of the fourth gallery.

In this video (part 4, last part of gallery 2, main wall)), the fourth set of 32 panels (panel 97 through panel 128) is analyzed and commented.
