Who's doing the bonking? It's DN18! The video opens with DNF reaching into the pan-tree for an afternoon snack. If you like fish, the nest is very stocked! DN17 is over a day old and visibly stronger and more coordinated than it was yesterday, reaching for and gobbling tiny bits of trout from DNF's beak. But DN18 is hungry too. The youngest eaglet has finally cleared its shellmet and is ready to eat! DNF tries to feed it at 59 seconds, but it fumbles the bite. DN17 gets a few more bites - look around 1:37 and you'll see a tiny but visibly swollen crop - and hungry DN18 starts the bonking at around two minutes. DN17 doesn't respond - another surprise, although DN18 can't bonk very hard yet! - and DN17 finally gets a bite in at 3:22.

I love DNF's patient skill and dedication. Imagine having to feed children with your mouth! They can't see you very well, you might not be able to see them very well, you have to try not to swallow the food that you are drooling all over, and everything is moving. It's a good thing that eagle beaks and tongues are so sensitive! https://www.raptorresource.org/2024/0...
