June Hutton joined The Pied Pipers in 1944, replacing Jo Stafford, who went on to a hugely successful solo career. The Pied Pipers were featured throughout the 40's on Capitol records, in movies, and on radio, frequently accompanying Frank Sinatra and songwriter Johnny Mercer. In this clip from a short subject entitled "Record Party," they sing "Should I?" The pianist is Page Cavanaugh, the guitarist Al Viola, and the young woman introducing the Pied Pipers is singer Connie Haines. The young, bewildered-looking man in the dark suit who follows along with the group is a stand-in for singer Hal Hopper, who obviously was not able to show up for this filming - although Hopper would've pre-recorded the session with his fellow Pipers.
Many thanks to Jazz Archivist Mark Cantor for this clip.
