We boondock in Kootenai National Forest and visit Kootenai Swinging Bridge and Kootenai Falls. The bridge and waterfalls are on the Kootenai River between Libby and Troy, Montana. Usually a busy tourist attraction on a summer weekend, we got up super early to have a couple of hours at the bridge and falls all to ourselves. It is an easy hike to the suspension bridge. It was fun to cross this footbridge and there are amazing scenic views of the Kootenai River gorge. Unfortunately our plans to continue west and see the Ross Creek Cedars in the area are thwarted when wildfire smoke forces us to head in the opposite direction.
