Calling all Chrono Trigger fans!! Have you been waiting for a good cover of the Undersea Palace or Magus' Theme? When I first considered covering these themes, I couldn't find a single good piano arrangement. Perhaps they're out there, but I wasn't aware. That's when I decided to write my own, however much I disliked writing music.

I'd like to announce that I'm taking orders for the purchase of my Yasunori Mitsuda album, which includes this arrangement! If you would like to get one, follow the Facebook link below and comment on the post pinned at the top. The album includes 15 Mitsuda tracks, plus one bonus track only available with purchase of the physical or digital album. Don't worry though, these will soon be released on Spotify/iTunes/Amazon very soon!   / kara-comparetto-1048451978618638

This arrangement started as just Undersea Palace, but as I was writing, I realized the middle section sounds a heck of a lot like Magus' theme, so somehow it morphed into a small medley. I even intertwined both Magus' theme and Ocean Palace at one point.

But now a problem arose- how do you finish off a medley of Chrono Songs with some of the darkest moments in the game?! I knew I had to complete the piece with a heroic theme, so I chose Wings of Time, another great theme rarely covered on piano. Also, keep your ears listening for three more cameo appearances of themes from the game.

A HUMONGOUS thanks to my brother, Robert Comparetto, for reviewing my arrangement and offering excellent advice. He's the one who got me into Chrono Trigger in the first place. And it was his idea to start the piece with the opening to Magus' Theme!

In the end, I learned a great deal about writing music, and even grew to like it...just a little bit! My goal now is to write arrangements of themes from Final Fantasy VII just in time for the release of the remake. I've found that the more work you put into honing a skill, the better you become, no matter how difficult it seems at the beginning. I hope many of you can learn from this too!
