The first photos of the Fab Four, the Beatles in Liverpool, were arranged by Brian Epstein with photographer Les Chadwick. We see John, Paul, George, and Ringo on waste ground in North Liverpool. But John Lennon never knew how significant a place this was for him and his family.

Join David Bedford as he reveals the story behind these famous photos of The Beatles. The waste ground they are standing on in North Liverpool was significant to the Lennon family, but John wouldn't have known that.

The reason? Back in the 1840s during the Great Famine in Ireland, JOhn's great-grandfather James Lennon came to Liverpool and settled in Saltney Street, right where John was standing when posing for these photos with his fellow Beatles.

David Bedford is a Beatles historian and author of several books on The Beatles, including his worldwide most popular book, “Liddypool: Birthplace of The Beatles”. Find out more about David at https://liddypool.com/
