*There is ONE exception, in Rev 14:4.* It may not seem like a big deal, but I happen to think that it is a HUGE deal. The label or category "virgin" was created to refer to something specifically about a woman's body. If the narrator in the Bible wants to refer to males without sexual experience they will qualify it, "male virgins." Think about what it says that 99% of the time, the biblical writers only care about a woman's sexual experience and that she not have any prior to being taken and claimed by a man for the rest of her life. Think. About. That! Just another layer of this far-reaching biblical idea that women were the property of men.
