Blue Rain Gallery is pleased to announce an upcoming show of new paintings by Sean Diediker titled “Quiet Places.” This show of new works is scheduled for June 11 – July 3, 2021 with an opening night reception on Friday, June 11th from 5 – 7pm.

Sean Diediker has always been known for his painterly paintings of individuals and the landscape. He is also known as a masterful colorist, adeptly creating overarching hues that help define each singular work and speak to the subtle, contemplative nature of each composition. However, in this newest series of paintings Diediker stretches beyond past definitions of his work to create bold, figural compositions that emphasize well-defined elements and dynamic form.

The subject of each painting is engaged in clear, intentional doings amidst vast surroundings, such as the Indian Chief kneeling in the desert looking out at the sagebrush against a magenta sky and a dramatic plume of clouds, or a cowboy on horseback stopped amidst the fully bloomed chamisa to take in the views from 15hh atop his equine companion while dramatic billowy white clouds frame the pair from behind. Strong narrative compositions such as these define this new series and give rise to eager anticipation of the upcoming show.

When asked what he most enjoys about being an artist, Diediker responds, "I enjoy the whole creative process, taking an idea and constructing a painting around it," states Diediker, whose father is a general contractor, "I feel I paint much in the same way that my father would erect a building. Much thought in planning, careful design, step by step and layer upon layer, until the work is done and standing on its own." Each singular work is complete on its own, but it is undoubtedly stunning to see a full series of paintings by Sean Diediker fill the walls of our gallery—the culmination of much thought, meticulous planning, and imagination.

Sean Diediker’s original works in oil are meant to be savored. Each delicate brushstroke and carefully constructed scene invite us to experience a new way of seeing the West and its inhabitants. Join us in celebrating the accomplishments of this fine painter during the opening reception or during the duration of the show. Blue Rain Gallery is open to the public Monday – Friday 10am – 6pm and Saturday 9am – 5pm.
