This multiday forum was held on 2 October 2023 and featured Address by Dr. Eric Li.
Event was held at the Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur and was sponsored by Khazanah National, a Malaysian wealth fund.

Dr. Eric Li is a Chinese venture capitalist and political scientist. He is the founder and Managing Director of Chengwei Capital and Member of the Advisory Council, IISS.

His famous observation is probably : In China, every policy can be changed but not the party. In the US, parties change but never the policy.

In a 2012 op-ed and a 2013 TED Talk, where Li advocated for China's one-party state on the grounds of "pluralism", saying that China has prospered under a "meritocratic system" and alleviated poverty without elections, and that its system is superior to Western democracy in several respects. Naturally this raised the ire of many who quickly labelled him a pro-China propagandist and he has held this reputation since. TedTalk was accused of being a propaganda tool at this point.

His other Infamous editorials include "Watching American Democracy in China Liberals
and Conservatives After Trump" published in Foreign Affairs on 19 April, 2016 and
"The End of Globalism Where China and the United States Go From Here"
published in Foreign Affairs on 9 December, 2016.

His book "Party Life: Chinese Governance and the World Beyond Liberalism" was published in 2023.
