On Saturday the 17th and Sunday the 18th of June 2017, the newly built tram line for Dublin, the Luas Cross City went under trial runs along the whole route between St Stephen's Green and Broombridge.

Because the line isn't fully complete yet and the fact that the new trams haven't arrived yet, they had to use two Luas 4000 class trams from the Red Line.

To start the video off we visit a brand new tram stop just beside Trinity College where we see the two trams departing with a trial run to St Stephen's Green.

Because the trams have to travel at very slow speeds it made it very easy to catch up with them, we see the trial run again at Dawson Street, Garda can be seen escorting the trams through the busy streets of Dublin.

We arrive at St Stephen's Green and shortly after I arrived we see one of the trams testing out a small siding which spurs off to the East of the main tram line, from what I can gather I think it will be used to load the new trams when they arrive.

The trams head out on another run to O'Connell Street where they will be greeted by the media and the press, we see them here departing St Stephen's Green.

Next we visit O'Connell Bridge where we see one of the trams making a historical visit to O'Connell Street, a tram hasn't been seen travelling along there since 1949, so I was truly honored to be a part of that moment.

The second tram soon follows and the media gather around one of the trams to broadcast the historical event.

Sunday the 18th of June 2016. The next day the trams were tested on the rest of the line to Broombridge. On this day the trams would travel along the old Broadstone Railway Line, they would run between Broadstone and Broombridge.

In the first clip we visit the Liam Wheelan Bridge along the only Broadstone railway line, here we see the first tram passing the area for the very first time, what was so special about this event was that it was the first train like vehicle to travel along this line since 1961.

The two trams went to the terminus at Broombridge and continued several trial runs along the line before heading back to service on the Red Line that evening.

The Luas Cross City is scheduled to open in December 2017, trial runs will take place over the coming months including the testing of the new trams when they do eventually arrive. But until then that's more less it and I'm really looking forward to seeing the line in operation.
