Ameer: Mummy, why are you taking so many quilts, we already have quilts, right?

Nimmi: Rohan, son, the cold season has started, that is why I am buying so many quilts so that when we get bored of covering one quilt, we can cover a new quilt.

Shalu: What happened children, why are you crying?

Komal: (crying) Mother, you had kept the torn quilt in the sun, after you left it suddenly rained and all the quilts got wet and got spoiled, now what will we cover?

Shalu: (crying) Oh God, why do you do all these atrocities on us poor people? This torn quilt was our only support in the cold. Now what will happen to my children, they don't even have warm clothes.

Amar: (crying) Shalu, what will happen if you curse God? I am the reason for all this. If I had been well then today you and the children would not have to see so much pain and suffering.

Narrator: Half of Shalu's husband Amar's body is paralyzed, due to which he could not do any work, due to which Shalu had to earn her living by working as a maid.

Shalu: Brother, how much is this bag of vegetables worth?

Vegetable seller: It is of no use to us, if you need it then you can take it.

Narrator: Shalu gets all the sacks from the vegetable vendor and sews them together to make a bedsheet and throws them at her children and husband.

Komal: Mother, this is very sweet.

Shalu: Yes children, but now this is the only way for us to survive this winter.

Narrator: Days pass like this and as the days pass, the cold weather also increases.

Nimmi: Oh Maharani, have your clothes been washed yet?

Shalu: Mistress, the water is very cold. My hands are completely swollen because of working in cold water. Can I use some warm water?

Nimmi: Oh, now this maid needs hot water to wash the clothes. Who will pay the geyser bill? Your father, wash the clothes quietly in cold water. If you fuss too much, I will give you this month's tankwa next month.

Narrator: Shalu gets scared after listening to her mistress and poor Shalu has to work in cold water with her swollen hands, after which as soon as Shalu reaches home, she sees that the condition of her husband Amar is very bad. Is

Shalu: But son, you are still very young, how will you work?

Komal: No problem mother, I will do everything, I have learned everything by watching you.

Narrator: After which the next day Komal goes to work in place of her mother.

Nimmi: The excuses of these servants never end. Do you know what kind of household work is done? If anything gets broken then no one will be worse than me.

Komal: Don't worry, mother has told me everything, nothing will harm you.

Narrator: Saying this, 6 year old Komal starts doing all the household chores and then Komal sees her.

Rohan: Priya, this quilt is so warm, from now on I will cover myself with this quilt. It is so much fun to eat peanut gajak and laddu in this
