Today marks eight years since I joined YouTube, and I wanted to make something special.

DISCLAIMER: This video was created with the intention of targeting older fans and adults who grew up with the older seasons of Thomas the Tank Engine, and want to enjoy a nostalgic trip back in time. It is safe for kids to enjoy and watch, but they are not the primary intended audience.

Not so much of a celebration of the date though, I wanted to make something really meaningful. I wrote the episode in what is hopefully reminiscent of the style of the first series in 1984. It's not a particularly exciting episode, but it's based on the idea of Thomas having a triumph over Gordon. I feel like he never really gets it in the series, and I wanted to try and do that here.

The music video that follows is just a tribute to the legacy of the franchise, hopefully you see some scenes that take you back to your childhood. If you're new to Thomas, I at least hope you enjoy the different scenes in a look at Thomas' history.

There are a couple people I'd like to thank here in relation to this video, so here goes.

Brenden: Thank you so much for helping me with this video. In addition to just being a fun friend to hang out with, you really helped bring life and accuracy to the season one sets. Couldn't ask for a better buddy.

Shawn: Thank you so much for lending some of your models to a guy you've never even spoken to before! I'm still so sorry about the Neville incident, (I wonder where he ended up?) Anyway, thank you for your generosity and your patience. Looking forward to more of your stuff!

Isaiah: You were on this pretty much from the beginning. You did an excellent job with the Theme tune, and I'm so glad I got to speak to you more because of this project.

Ty: I don't know if you'll ever read this, but I've always had a deep respect for you and your music, and thank you for making your music free reign, it really brought this video to life.

Daniel: I bet you're wondering why you're included here as you weren't actively a part of this project, but you and your videos were in the back of my mind while making this. I have such an admiration for you and your work, and your ability to channel that simplicity and charm of the series. Also just a general thank you for sticking around and being a great friend.

Matt: You're always an incredible force of positivity and inspiration, and your encouragement gave me a lot of motivation. I love you and your work, and I know you'll never stop amazing and inspiring people whatever you do.

Lucas: I want to thank you for all of those times when I came knocking asking for help with something, and you never turned me down, even if you probably wanted to. You're incredibly kind and just a fantastic friend, as well as talented.

Brett: I know I came to you a lot during this, and I swear, I don't know how you do it, but you always seem to have the answer, or at least are able to help me find it. I value you and your opinions so much, and your work inspires me too.

James: (I totally forgot to add you in the credits and man I am so sorry) You're always there, even when it's difficult to communicate due to time differences. Your suggestions and advice and banter have been so helpful, and I can't wait to see you again this summer!

There are so many people I've met here in my time on YouTube, and I can't begin to thank everyone. But you know who you are, and you're all wonderful.

Thank you to everyone who has watched my videos throughout the years, whether you've been around since the beginning or you just joined the party. I cannot express how much it means to me that there are people who watch what I make. Thank you.

Here's to eight more years!

Video features cover of 'Never Forget' by Take That, covered for copyright reasons. I don't claim to be a vocalist, but I did my best to not make it sound wretched.
