Former professional wrestler and member of the House of Councilors, Antonio Inoki, died of heart failure at his home in Tokyo at 7:40 am on the 1st. was 79 years old.

After being scouted by Rikidozan, he made his debut in Japan Pro Wrestling in 1960 with Giant Baba (deceased). In 1972, he launched New Japan Pro-Wrestling, and has fought many famous matches, including mixed martial arts battles with Muhammad Ali (USA), the professional boxing world heavyweight champion. In 1989, he was elected to the House of Councilors for the first time. In recent years, in addition to back surgery, he also suffered from an intractable heart disease, "systemic amyloidosis," and was repeatedly in and out of the hospital.
