On November 10, 2022, AWA was pleased to host a talk over Zoom with Conservation Specialist Devon Earl.

In her presentation, Devon discussed forestry certifications; and where some certification systems fall short on environmental protections and make false and misleading claims about sustainability. The goal is to help everyone make educated decisions when purchasing wood products that bear forestry certification labels.

Devon’s areas of specialization include forestry and forest management in SW Alberta. Her master’s research focused on assessing the impacts of anthropogenic sulfur dioxide emissions on tree growth in Alberta.
