Namaskaram and welcome Divine Beings, to a new travel vlog from South India from the state of Tamilnadu, India. Today we are on a spiritual journey exploring one of the important spiritual sites that many are not aware about. Our today's journey is into a forest located on a mystical mountain terrain, which is still a bucket list for most trekker's. Located on the Western Ghats that was once the living space for the 18 Siddha's.

On the basis of Spirituality most of us have heard about the South Kailash called the Velliangiri Hills. But did you know, that's actually the 2nd Kailash in Tamilnadu? The hill that bags the 1st spot as the Kailash of the South is this hill terrain called the Sathuragiri.

The name Sathuragiri comes from Chathuram, which means square and Giri means mountain. The whole mountain is in square shape comprising of 4 mountains. Sathuragiri according to legends is also the Abode of Shiva in South India. It is also called as Mahalingam Hill.

A journey comprising 4500 ft in altitude will take us to explore the Sundara Mahalingam and the Sandana Mahalingam along with many temples on the way.

A total trek journey of 14KMS takes you on a rollercoaster through rocky terrains & a mixed amount of steep terrains. Crossing these dangerous ups & downs we explore the holy space where Siddha's and Shiva still lives in energy forms. One of the 3 abodes of Shiva in South India, welcome to the Sathuragiri or Chaturagiri hills.

It is believed if anyone can walk and finish the trek of these mountains many diseases like diabetes and many, just disappear without any treatment as these mountains carry the ayurvedic phenomena of medicinal herbs found in these hills that's carried to you by air that you breath.

Nother mystery about these hills are of a belief that Bogar, Agatiyar, Sataimuni, Gorakhnath and 18 Siddha's mysterious still live in these hills.

The hills are guarded by Karupusami. Further the hills is said to hold medicine to even stick a broken bone in a human body and secrets to changing a normal metal into gold can also be found here.

The hills will fascinate you with the amount of different lingas like the Sandalwood Lingam, Swayambu Mahalingam, Twin Lingams and more.

We or most of us should have heard about to big names in the world of spirituality, namely Patanjali and Baba Gorakhnath. Surprised to hear these names in South India? Then please stay tuned till the end to know more about how these names are connected to this place.

These hills has 3 Routes and the Thani Parai Padai forest gate route is open to trek for public every month, that is from Amavasya 3 days and from Poornima 3 days.

There are no direct buses as that service is available only during festivity season. Instead come to Rajapalayam from Watrap or Srivelliputhur or Madurai and avail a share auto service for ₹30-40 to get to the foothill.

Trek Difficulty: Intermediate
Trek Time: 10-13 hours both ways, depending on individual body conditions.
Entry: ₹10.00 for the maintenance of these hills will be charged per person. No charges for camera.

Any age group; man / women / children are allowed to trek these hills.
