This is NOT an original SH story by Sir A.C. Doyle, but one written by Peter Tremayne, which somewhat enlightens us on WHERE Holmes is actually coming from, and WHAT triggered him to become the world's first and most famous consulting detective!

I tried to contact the publishers of the book in which this remarkable story is to be found - "The Mammoth Book of New Sherlock Holmes Adventures" by Carroll&Graf Publishers, Inc. 1997 - but they are no longer in existence.
