Riley and I started our day at mile 1257.3, 3 miles south of George Outerbridge Shelter. We filled up with 4 liters of water at a spring by the shelter, the last reliable water source for 30 miles. Hiking up out of Lehigh Furnace Gap there was a difficult rock scramble to get through. It was a very hot day requiring several breaks. We should be able to replenish our water supply from a water cache at Smith Gap Road tomorrow morning based on Far Out comments. We hiked 14.7 miles today from mile 1257.3 to mile 1272.
