Hyundai India is launching an IPO of Rs. 27,870 Crore, making it India's biggest IPO to date.
Unlike previous large IPOs like LIC and Paytm, which saw significant listing day losses, Hyundai's IPO is an offer for sale, with promoters selling their stake in the company.
This means no fresh investments will be made into the company, nor will there be any increase in production capacity.
Experts suggest that due to the large size of the IPO, share allotment is expected, potentially reducing post-allotment demand and leading to a lower grey market premium (GMP).
They recommend waiting for the listing before investing.
Hyundai is the second-largest OEM in the Indian passenger vehicle segment with a 15% market share, but its market share is declining in the face of competition from Tata, Mahindra & Mahindra, and Maruti Suzuki.
