Happy March, Friends!

What seeds are you itching to sow if, like us, you are expecting more snow soon? 🌿

We’ve sown our first peas next week in the past; we’ve also had to wait until mid-April.

Which is all to say!

Paying attention is one of the greatest gifts we can offer ourselves and the world…

…& getting to know your soil in all seasons is one of the most essential acts of gardening.

Tip: To test if soil is well drained (not soupy!) and can accommodate directly sowed seeds, grab a handful of dirt and make a small ball with it. Drop it from waist height & if the ball drops (or plops!) to the ground and doesn’t break, wait! If the ball drops to the ground and falls apart, go for it! ✨

Ps

Friends, whoever you and wherever you are, resist feeling like you're starting seeds too late! It's easy to feel behind scrolling through social media, but this just in: Younger, un-stressed transplants are more healthy and thus more abundant than older, more stressed transplants, so resist starting most seeds til early / mid April here in Zones 5 & 6. And! There are as many ways to garden as there are gardeners 🌻
