Here is a tutorial on emptying a 6-speed manual gearbox, we often find this type of assembly on Audi, VW, Seat, Skoda on VAG transverse engines, especially with 6-speed gearboxes and sometimes on 5-speed, but some 5-speed gearbox drains with filling on the side (behind the driver's wheel) and not in front. We can find similar gearboxes on Audi A3, A4, VW Golf, Passat, Seat Leon, Skoda Octavia Etc... Here we are on Transporter VW T5 2.5 TDI 4 Motion from 2004. I have also already done it on Skoda OCTAVIA 4x4 1.9 TDI from 2006 the same way.

Sometimes it is possible to drain gearboxes without an oil syringe or special tool, that's why I wanted to present this method to you!

I carried out the oil change of the gearbox after a course on which I used all the reports to stir the oil well.

It is enough that the vehicle is elevated and level and have oil with a can that has a pouring spout! On the Octavia 4x4 I had done it without raising the car because the raised ground clearance allowed access.

You can find a pipe to extend the spout of the oil container in a tool or DIY store, often sold by the meter.

I used Castrol Transmax Manual V 75W-80 oil the capacity of the gearbox is 2.7L of oil the 1L container has a special pouring spout which is not the case for all containers of oil competitors' oil.

I chose not to use gearbox oil additives because these are often expensive and their effectiveness remains unclear. We can however see a lot of positive opinions on them but what you should know is that the manufacturers do not recommend them most of the time, as you can see on the extract from the car maintenance book page Honda broadcast in the video (which explains how to maintain its vehicle unlike VW which keeps its secrets and directs you to the dealership).
Good oils already contain the necessary additives and components VW also remains secret about the composition of its oil for manual gearboxes, it is even very likely that the manufacture of VAG oil is entrusted to oil manufacturers. According to my research the Castrol oil I used is equivalent. If in doubt, you can choose VAG oil which will contain the appropriate composition.
