India's first vertical lift bridge is the New Pamban Bridge, which is currently under construction in Tamil Nadu. The bridge will connect the town of Mandapam on the mainland to Rameswaram on Pamban Island.

പുതിയ പാമ്പൻ പാലം ഇന്ത്യയിലെ പ്രധാന ഭൂപ്രദേശമായ മണ്ഡപം പട്ടണത്തെ പാമ്പൻ ദ്വീപിലെ രാമേശ്വരവുമായി ബന്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്ന ഒരു പുതിയ റെയിൽവേ പാലമാണ്. 1914-ലെ പഴയ പാമ്പൻ പാലത്തിന് സമാന്തരമായാണ് പുതിയ പാലം നിർമ്മിക്കുന്നത്. 2024 നവംബറിനുശേഷം പൂർത്തിയാകുമെന്ന് പ്രതീക്ഷിക്കുന്ന 2.07 കിലോമീറ്റർ നീളമുള്ള ഇത് ഇന്ത്യയിലെ ആദ്യത്തെ വെർട്ടിക്കൽ ലിഫ്റ്റ് കടൽപ്പാലമാണ്.
