Interview done by Mist of centurion Centauri with Ravenlord of Nocturnal Prophecy:

1/First, can you give us a little biography of the band.

We began to play together in April 98. It was Yog-Sogoth's idea to form a band. At the beginning, we had a bass player but we kicked him out because he wasn't motivated at all. He was just sitting during the rehearsals and he wasn't into the BM ideology. We hope he's dead now! Merhim, our vocalist, joined us in the winter of the same year and we began the composition. Before he joined us, we did some covers of Dark Funeral, Emperor, Enthroned, Mayhem...

2/How did you meet the Black Procession crew ?

Yog-Sogoth was on vacation when he met sagoth of Eternal Majesty/Antaeus. Thanks to him we came in contact with the Black Procession crew : Navint of Eternal Majesty and Sigfreja. We sent them a rehearsal tape and they were interested.

3/Have you recorded before ?

Nothing serious. We had some rehearsal tapes and we gave one to Sigfreja and Navint. The demo that came out on Black Procession Rec. Is our first real recording.

4/What are your main influences ?

Our main influences are all the great Scandinavian BM bands such as Mayhem, Darkthrone, Emperor, Marduk, Dark Funeral,etc...I would also say that Enthroned is an influence because that's a great band too and we really appreciate them.

5/What did you use to listen to ? Which bands ?

Before listening to BM, we were into death and trash metal. I still listen to death metal like Deicide, Morbid Angel and also old Slayer. We've always been into extreme metal so BM was just a natural progression and moreover it really fits with our ideas and convictions.

6/You play a kind of BM in the occult and satanic way, is it the choice of the band or just a few members ?

At the beginning it was Occult and myself who wanted to play like this. We began when Cradle Of Filth and Dimmu Borgir were becoming more and more popular. We could have played the same kind of music but this isn't the way we look upon BM. I've nothing against these bands but for us BM must be an extreme music with occult and satanic themes. At the beginning, Yog-Sogoth wanted to include keyboards but we were hostile to that idea. Except for a few bands, we don't really like keyboards in BM.

7/What do you think about the french BM scene ? About the international BM scene ?

We're really newcomers into the scene but as far as i know the french BM scene is a really good one with bands like Antaeus, Eternal Majesty, Garwall...We're in contact with people from the south of France and there are also good bands there like Enimonni, Ad Hominem, Blessed in Sin...
As for the international BM scene, we're happy to see that there are still bands which continue in a hateful way like Marduk, Enthroned...BM must stay extreme and brutal because that's its soul. It shouldn't be a music accepted by everybody.

8/Your demo has a good sound. How did you do the recording ?

We recorded the demo at the Coprophagus Studio. We recorded with the mixing table linked to a computer. We are quite satisfied with the sound which is a rather good one for a demo even if we hardly hear the bass drum.

9/What are your projects for the future.

We'd like to play live and continue to spread the music to destroy the weak and the degenerated part of humanity. The elite will rule one day !

10/I leave you to finish the interview...

Thanxs a lot for the interview and the support! Hail!
