At 3:15 PM August 11, 2024 the Martin Mars Hawaii left her home base at Sproat Lake she was lead by the original Grumman Goose that inspired the Martin Mars purchases and worked as the reconnaissance plane for the team.

To this day the 10,000 HP Martin Mars water bombers remain the first and largest of their kind. She has a capacity to drop 27000 litres of fire retardant and cover over 4 acres of land. By comparison the BC government solution is to use 7 Airtractor Fireboss amphibious planes rated 1600 HP with a 3100 litre capacity to replace her! Go figure how sad most citizens feel about her being retired.
