A simple trick to decide which one to use is to answer the question with “he/she” or “him/her.” If “he/she” sounds correct, use “who,” and if “him/her” sounds correct, use “whom.”

For example:

Who/Whom wrote the book? He wrote the book. So, “Who wrote the book?” is correct.
For who/whom should I vote? Should I vote for him? So, “For whom should I vote?” is correct.
