I finally get behind the wheel of Nissan's all-new small #crossover - Here's my initial impressions as well as the ONE thing I'd include to make this best in segment.

The all-new 2025 Nissan Kicks ups the ante in the compact crossover segment with unexpected levels of available technology, a street-smart design inspired by high-end sneakers, exceptional versatility and the increased confidence of Intelligent All-Wheel Drive. The new Kicks will reach Nissan dealerships later this summer in the U.S. and Canada. Full pricing will be available closer to the on-sale date.

As Nissan continues to reshape expectations across vehicle segments, Kicks takes on the competition with best-in-class standard ground clearance3 and best-in-class standard cargo space4.

First-ever Kicks with AWD
Every Kicks grade is offered with optional Intelligent All-Wheel Drive, providing additional confidence and control in many weather conditions and road surfaces1.

Kicks models with AWD add a "Snow" driving mode that adjusts the logic of the all-wheel-drive and vehicle dynamic control systems with tuning specifically intended for slippery surfaces. Yaw control using targeted brake application helps further ensure Kicks stays on the driver's intended line when cornering in snow or ice.

As an added benefit when navigating rough roads or snow, Kicks boasts segment-leading ground clearance of 8.4 inches.

Robust design: Compact crossover makes a big impact
At first glance, the 2025 Nissan Kicks makes a strong impression with its bold and expressive design. The wide stance and fenders give way to a more rounded, protected cabin. Strong fenders and a distinctive boxiness define the lower half of the vehicle, compared to the cleaner upper body.

Kicks is equally striking from behind, with a subtle roof spoiler, and full-width LED taillights that divide the liftgate in two and wrap around into combination lights on the flared rear fenders.

Accenting the rocker panels is an intricate, three-dimensional shape inspired by athletic sneaker soles – adding texture and visual interest to an area that otherwise can be overlooked on crossovers.

Moving inside, Kicks has an immediately modern and airy look. The interior was designed to counter the tough, robust exterior with a more cocoon-like sensation.

The dashboard features a dual-screen setup: one for the instrument meter, one for the infotainment system. The standard meter measures 7 inches, while Kicks SR upgrades to an even more striking 12.3-inch unit with two display modes: A more traditional Classic and a more feature-rich Enhanced view. A new-design steering wheel features a flat bottom.

The center console accommodates all of life's essentials with two cupholders designed around fitting a 30-ounce coffee tumbler and an enclosed storage compartment. Bottle holders in the doors are large enough to fit a 32-ounce Yeti® tumbler.

A first for Kicks, both rows of seats use Nissan's Zero Gravity™ seating design, helping distribute weight and pressure across the occupants' bodies for a more comfortable seating position to help reduce fatigue. The softer, more supportive design improves comfort and reduces the tendency for backseat passengers' hips to slide down uncomfortably on longer journeys.

Kicks SR uses sleek, touch-capacitive switches to operate the automatic climate control and features red-stitched accents throughout that lend the cabin a sportier feel.

An available powered panoramic moonroof brings additional light and airiness into the cabin. It features distinct buttons to open the glass or to operate the power shade, simplifying operation for drivers or passengers. A new-generation, thinner design means the moonroof intrudes less into headroom, with a new slide design that reduces wind noise.

More spacious, more functional
The 2025 Nissan Kicks was developed to optimize interior room for passenger comfort and cargo space, while maintaining a compact exterior size that makes driving and parking in the city a cinch.

Kicks also facilitates adventure with a spacious, flexible cargo area. Total cargo capacity of up to 30 cubic feet with the seats raised or 60 cubic feet5 with them lowered is best in class – and closer to the amount of luggage space expected from crossovers one segment larger. A small, hidden storage compartment is available below the trunk floor.
