Wednesday, September 25th 2024, Green Day gave the second main act performance in the last two decades with The Saviors Tour at Providence Park. Besides the Foo Fighters’ legendary show last month on the 16th, it’s been almost 20 years since a concert was shown at the soccer stadium with the most recent previous acts coming from Def Leppard/Journey on June 1st, 2005 and Joan Jett on June 7th of the same year. Foo Fighters made a grand entrance for the Stadium’s first performance, and now Green Day are the second band to take the stage for the 30,000 seat stadium! The monsters of punk rock have shown time and time again that just because they’re getting to a vintage state, doesn’t mean they’re any older than 20 on the inside. Billie Joe’s high relentless energy, Tré Cool’s powerful yet concentrated drumming skills, and Mike Dirnt’s legendary bass lines all come together to produce the punk rock show of a lifetime in celebration of the smash hit albums Dookie and American Idiot whom turn 30 and 20 this year respectively.

This is a POV video of my view from Section 118, Row P Seat 17. A lot better seats from Seat Geek than my previous experience with them at the same venue. These seats were good for their price, cheaper than my Foo Fighters ones, and a much better view of the stage as well. The sound was pretty good, but sometimes cut out towards the start of the show (more apparent during opening acts). The audience was better than Foo Fighters from what saw, more in tune and energetic than last month’s, and the pyrotechnics and light shows were great! The blowup props during the Dookie and American Idiot albums with a Bad Year blimp flying around the stadium were all welcome touches.

This was a really fun experience though. I didn’t get to record it as well I was had hoped, I dropped my phone at the very end of Welcome to Paradise (luckily RIGHT after it ended) and I didn’t learn their pyrotechnic routine resulting in me missing out on a lot of the flames and fireworks, so that and the fact I was also extremely tired after working since 6 in the morning the same day, but overall I don’t think it turned out terrible (American Idiot was a lot better recorded than Dookie in my opinion). Green Day sounded really good live though as I said, wether that be the ageless voice of Billie Joe Armstrong, the punk bunny energized crowd, or the well done production of the venue, I like to think it’s a team effort from all those involved. I went with my brother and one of my friends for their birthday and my brother’s graduation, alongside my Dad for Father’s Day. All of them are/were much bigger Green Day fans than I was and have never been to one of their concerts, so it was a really great opportunity to be able to bring them along with me to experience this!

Overall, I am really glad with the experience. American Idiot was absolutely surreal live, and Dookie was really cool too. Wish I listened to their music even more going into it so I could’ve screamed my lungs out to a bunch of the songs, but I truly believe there wasn’t a bad song that was played hearing them all live. They even brought up a fan named Ema from her band Los Mocos (a big local punk band from Albuquerque) to perform their song Know Your Enemy and she absolutely crushed it! Everything was really well performed and I couldn’t be happier!

Glad I got the chance to share it with you all, hope you enjoy! Here’s the timestamps to skip to the start of each song, but I should say doing so you’ll miss a little bit of the in between stuff such as reactions, crowd cheers, and much more, so I highly recommend watching in full! Also I’m sorry in advance for my loud reactions hahaha!

Thanks for watching, and keep rocking the free world!
